Energy and Mineral Resources Limited (EMR) is an Oil Service Company incorporated in Nigeria in 1997. The company is accredited by the Department of Petroleum Resources and provides services to major and independent oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) companies.

The company started as an employee owned organization and has grown into a fully commercial entity with a professional management team, employees and shareholders.

In addition to providing services to the oil and gas industry, the company also provides technical and economic due diligence to financial institutions looking to fund oil and gas related projects. The first reserve-based lending wholly syndicated by Nigerian banks for an upstream oil and gas project was done off of the technical and economic due diligence provided by EMR.

Though EMR started as a Nigerian based Service Company, through time the company has built an international experience by extending service-offerings beyond Nigerian borders. The company has a strong footprint in key Petroleum Provinces in Africa. Several projects have been successfully undertaken in several provinces. From the Western African Coastal Province to the Gulf of Guinea and West Central-Coastal provinces. The company also has experience in the East African Central and Coastal Provinces.

EMR has supported many organizations through bid rounds, divestments and acquisitions. The successful acquisition of oil blocks, Umuseti, Tsekelewu, EG 23 in Equatorial Guinea, KON 5 Onshore Angola amongst others was based on the technical and commercial studies with support provided by EMR.

EMR has strategic partnerships with a number of companies; we partner with IHS Markit for software solutions, with Warren Business consulting for training, PGS reservoir, Panterra, for integrated reservoir studies and Engineering solutions, Black Gold for Upstream Scouting and Business Development Solutions. EMR is also in partnership with the Kweneng Group a South African based Mineral Exploration and Mining Group. Apart from the upstream oil and gas industry, EMR has since 2012, diversified service-offerings to the Solid Minerals exploration and Mining and Water Resources Development.

It is our belief that all accidents do not just happen. They are caused, and are therefore, preventable. We believe that the goal of “no accidents” can be achieved through proper planning, education, and the use of efficient and time-tested procedures and equipment that place safety as our number one objective.

Service Quality

Quality control, quality assurance and continuous improvement in service delivery have been driven by our intensified focus on process adherence and execution of management system controls. This includes regular interaction between staff and management and further interaction with clients for post-humous review of accomplished assignment.

Giving back to society is at the core of EMRs corporate social responsibility and we dare say has become a part of the company’s culture. We have adopted various means through which the society can be impacted upon by the company.

Academic contributions: as a company we contribute to the academia (academic society) by providing the geoscience departments in several Federal, State and Private Universities (OAU, Unilag, U.I, FUTA, Wesely, Mountaintop, Unilorin etc.) with software. These software licenses are provided by IHS Markit whom we are channel partners to. We ensure both lecturers and students are adequately trained to enable them execute projects which are related to the oil and gas industry. This has enabled several institutions compete in the Basin evaluation competition and Imperial barrel awards organized by NAPE and AAPG

Internship

We provide undergraduate and graduate internship opportunities to students. These students are given the opportunity to have a real world view of the academic principles they are taught in school.

Reward for Excellence: Awards have been granted to the best graduating student of the geoscience department of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) professional Master’s program. We have been doing this since 2013. We recently got approval from the senate of the University of Benin (December 2019) to sponsor an award for the best graduating student at their Centre of Excellence for Geosciences and Petroleum Engineering Studies in honor of our departed staff, Lawrence Ahiwe (1980-2018) who was an alumnus of the institution. We do this to encourage students and in turn, give back to society.

Sponsorships

We’ve shown our interest also in the area of sports. EMR sponsored the 2017, under 19 Cricket tournaments in honor of an icon, ProfessorJideBademosi. Four states (Lagos, Osun, Ogun and Oyo) participated in the tournament. EMR ceased this opportunity to encourage and build up cricketers in the country.
